Welcome to Edina Missouri! We wish to give you the tools to help you decide if you would like to move to Edina. If you are already here, we would like you to be able to get basic information for your day-to-day living from your computer. If you find there is more information you need that is not posted, please notify us and we will see if we can get it posted for all.

This is the information you will receive in your welcome packet from City Hall with additions:

With your phone calls, you will need to add the prefix of 1- 660 if you live outside of Edina.
Emergency "911" is not available in the area yet. You will need to use these numbers in the case of an emergency:
  • Ambulance 397-2289
  • Fire Department 397-2211
  • City Police 397-2276

City Hall is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.-4 p.m. A drop box is located on the west side of City Hall for Payment after hours.

Driver's License -
Missouri law requires all non-residents to have their license changed over to a Missouri license within 30 days from their arrival in Missouri. Applications for license are done at the Jim Sears Technical Center. Please remember to bring your drivers' license, social security card, and birth certificate. Licenses will only be issued with full identification. (Moberly Area Community College, Highway 6 East, 397-2522)
To get a new license, your driver's examination can be taken at the Knox County Courthouse on the 1st, third, and fifth Tuesday of each month between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Wheel Tax -
All vehicles within the city limits for 30 days or more must have a Wheel Tax Sticker. They are purchased at City Hall by June 30 each year. (397-4120)
  • Cars and Trucks one ton or larger cost $5.00
  • Pick-up trucks cost $3.50
  • Motorcycles cost $2.50

Animals-
All pets six months old or older, kept in the house or outside, must be under the owner's direct control and wear a city tag. The current price for a tag is $2.00 and the pet must have proof of its rabies vaccination. Tags need to be renewed before June 30 of each year. Purchase the city tag at City Hall.

Taxes-
City Real Estate and Personal Property tax are due by December 31st of each year. A penalty is charged for late taxes. All personal taxes must be paid in order to purchase a Wheel Tax Sticker.

Trash-
Trash should be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. All residential trash must be bagged and tagged with an orange sticker from City Hall. When you pay your trash bill each month, you can pick up 8 stickers. Additional stickers cost $2.00 each. Bags must not be over 30 gallon capacity or weigh over 40 pounds. No loose trash will be picked up, and yard waste will not be accepted (burn instead). Trash days:
  • Monday and Thursday

Burning-
Yard waste and leaves that grow on your property may be burned on that property only. No burning in the business district.

Building Permits-
All structures you choose to build on your property must be approved by the City Council. For the permit, submit a sketch of the property and area the building is to be located on the property, with a materials list.
